The Tithe Church, or the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary - a Christian church, built in Kyiv in 989 - 996 years. It got the name in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is considered the first stone church of Kievan Rus. Destroyed during the Mongol invasion of Kyiv in 1240. Remains of the foundation of the Church of the Tithes, together with the city of Volodymyr is a national monument.

Some historical reports claim that the church was erected in a place of the court of the Christian martyrs of the Varangians of Theodore Tur and his son John, who were killed by the pagans in 983.

The main sanctuary of the church is a miraculous icon of the Virgin, which is mentioned by Nestor the Chronicler.

After the reconstruction in1828, the style changed to imperial. The temple looked veryluxurious, sothe antiquity loversnamed it"mortar".
